Start an asset and equipment register

Laptops, monitors, tools and vehicles: what the company owns, who has it, when it was bought and when it’s due for service. When someone leaves, ask what they had.

An example

@ADoor Maja gets the MacBook Pro with serial C02XK1, bought in August. Ali's old one goes back to storage.

What you can ask later

  • “Who has which laptop?”
  • “What’s due for service or replacement this year?”
  • “What equipment did Ali have when he left?”
  • “What’s the total value of our equipment?”

Who can see what

  • IT edits the whole register.
  • Staff read their own assigned equipment (one grant per person).
  • Finance reads purchase prices and dates for depreciation.
  • A device-management script updates serials and status through the HTTP API.

How it compares with an IT asset tool

If you need check-in and check-out flows, barcode labels or agent software that reports devices automatically, an IT asset tool like Snipe-IT does that well.

A company with a mix of laptops, tools and vehicles gets one register people can ask about, with purchase prices visible only to finance.

How to start

  1. Sign in to ADoor and connect an assistant like ChatGPT. Claude, Grok and Cursor connect the same way, through MCP.
  2. Tell it: “Set up an asset register: Assets (asset, type, serial, bought, price, assigned to, status, next service).”
  3. Give staff read access to their own equipment, and finance access to prices and dates.

Questions people ask

Can staff see the prices?

Only if you include that field in their access.

Can it track software licenses?

Yes. Add them as assets with a renewal date.

Is ADoor free?

Yes. The free plan holds 3 tables and 100 rows. Pro is $10 a month per workspace, with 1 GB of storage and no per-GB charges.

What happens if I remove someone’s access?

Their next request is refused. What they already saved stays, and the history shows who made each change.
