Plan a carpool rota
Who drives which day, who’s in the car and who swapped with whom. Each family updates its own days, and anyone can ask who’s doing Friday.
An example
@ADoor I can't drive to football on Tuesday, can someone swap with my Thursday? Also Maya won't need a ride Friday.
ADoor Added 1 entry to Swaps and updated Friday
What you can ask later
- “Who drives tomorrow, and who’s in the car?”
- “How many times has each family driven this month?”
- “Who’s picking up Theo on Friday?”
- “Accept Petra’s swap.”
Who can see what
- Each family reads the rota and edits its own days and riders.
- Kids can read who picks them up.
- Home addresses stay in a field only the drivers can read.
How it compares with a group chat
A group chat is better for “running five minutes late”. Keep it for that.
The plan itself belongs in ADoor: who drives, who rides and who owes a turn, across several households, without scrolling back through the chat.
How to start
- Sign in to ADoor and connect an assistant like ChatGPT. Claude, Grok and Cursor connect the same way, through MCP.
- Tell it: “Set up a carpool rota: day, driver, riders and note, plus Swaps. Invite the other parents.”
- Give each family edit access to its own days, and keep addresses to the drivers.
Questions people ask
Can each family see the others’ addresses?
Only if you give them access to that field.
Does it work for commuting coworkers?
Yes. The same rota works for any shared ride.
Do I have to pay?
Not on the free plan, which holds 3 tables and 100 rows. Pro is $10 a month per workspace, with 1 GB of storage and no per-GB charges.
What if someone leaves?
Remove their access and it stops working on their next request. The history still shows what they added and changed.
