Run volunteer and community sign-ups

The slots that need filling, who took them and what’s still open. Volunteers sign up from their own assistant, and organizers ask what’s covered.

An example

@ADoor Put me down for the bake sale table, 10 to 12 on Saturday. And I can bring two trays of cinnamon buns.

What you can ask later

  • “Which slots are still open?”
  • “Who’s bringing food, and what?”
  • “How many hours did each volunteer give this year?”
  • “Send me the list for Saturday morning.”

Who can see what

  • Volunteers sign up for open slots and see the schedule, without other people’s phone numbers.
  • Organizers see everything and can move people around.
  • A partner organization can read the schedule for their part of the event only.

How it compares with SignUpGenius or a shared spreadsheet

SignUpGenius is better for people who will never sign in to anything: they click a link and pick a slot, with email reminders.

A regular group that keeps coming back gets more from ADoor. Sign-ups stay as history, phone numbers stay private, and organizers ask in plain words what’s covered.

How to start

  1. Open an assistant like ChatGPT, Claude, Grok or Cursor and connect ADoor through MCP.
  2. Tell it: “Set up volunteer sign-ups: Slots (event, task, time, needed), Sign-ups (slot, volunteer) and Bringing. Invite the organizers.”
  3. Invite volunteers once the slots are in, and keep phone numbers to the organizers.

Questions people ask

Do volunteers need an account?

Yes, to sign up themselves. Organizers can also add people who tell them directly.

Can volunteers see each other’s contact details?

Not unless you give them access to that field.

What does it cost?

Nothing on the free plan, which holds 3 tables and 100 rows. Pro is $10 a month per workspace, with 1 GB of storage and no per-GB charges.

What if someone leaves?

Remove their access and it stops working on their next request. The history still shows what they added and changed.
