Back an internal tool

Lists with typed fields, an HTTP API, plain SQL and access per person and per app, all set up by describing what you need. Your internal tool or prototype gets a backend from one chat.

An example

@ADoor Set up a backend for our equipment booking tool: Equipment and Bookings, with a booking linking to equipment, start and end time, and who booked it.

ADoor Started Equipment and Bookings, linked by equipment

Bookings

EquipmentBooked byStartEnd
Camera kit Amaja@acme.comOct 22 09:00Oct 22 17:00
Projector 2ali@acme.comOct 23 13:00Oct 23 15:00

What you can ask later

  • “Is Camera kit A free on Thursday?”
  • “Who books the projectors most?”
  • “Add a field for return condition.”
  • “Write the SQL for bookings that overlap.”

Who can see what

  • The app gets an API key with access to Equipment and Bookings only.
  • Each person can be limited to editing their own bookings (one grant per person).
  • Developers use Cursor with the same access they have.
  • A CI job runs migrations with short-lived access, 15 minutes by default.

How it compares with Supabase, Firebase or Retool

Supabase and Firebase are better if you’re building a production app with SDKs, file storage, realtime subscriptions and published performance. Retool is better at building the interface itself from components.

When you want the data side done quickly, ADoor fits: describe it, get an HTTP API and plain SQL, and give each person, app and agent its own access without writing access rules.

How to start

  1. Sign in to ADoor, then add it to an assistant like ChatGPT, Claude, Grok or Cursor through MCP.
  2. Tell it: “Set up the data for our internal tool: describe the lists, fields and links you need, then create an API key for the app.”
  3. Create an API key for the app, and let Cursor work with the same access you have.

Questions people ask

Is there an SDK?

A TypeScript SDK is coming soon. Until then, use the HTTP API, which runs the same actions assistants use.

Is it standard Postgres underneath?

Yes. Plain SQL works through MCP and the API, within your access.

Is ADoor free?

Yes. The free plan holds 3 tables and 100 rows. Pro is $10 a month per workspace, with 1 GB of storage and no per-GB charges.

Which assistants can I use?

Any of ChatGPT, Claude, Grok or Cursor, connected through MCP. Each one asks for your approval, and you decide which lists it can use.
