ADoor vs Airtable
Airtable lets teams build apps on their data, with bases, interfaces, forms and automations, priced per editor. ADoor is a data account for a team's records, set up from a chat with an assistant like ChatGPT, where every person, app and assistant gets its own access.
Where ADoor stands out
Each assistant gets its own access
Airtable's MCP server mirrors the permissions you have in Airtable, scoped to the bases you pick when you connect. In ADoor, an assistant, script or job can be limited to one list, some fields or certain entries, and never gets more than the person who connected it.
History you keep
ADoor keeps a history of changes, with who made each one and the before and after. Airtable's revision history covers 2 weeks on Free and 1 year on Team, and can't be exported or read through its API.
Plain SQL underneath
ADoor runs on standard Postgres, so a script or an assistant can run an ordinary SQL query, within its access.

ADoor
ADoor is your data account. You keep lists and tables in a workspace you own, personal or team: a reading list, an incident log, a list of customers. Describe what you want to keep track of and it's set up for you, with real Postgres underneath. Every person, app, assistant, device and job gets its own access.
- Assistants
- ChatGPT, Claude, Grok and Cursor connect through MCP with a sign-in.
- Apps and scripts
- An HTTP API with keys, running the same actions assistants use
- Access
- Per space, list or field, or just the entries where a field equals a value you choose. Reading, adding, editing and deleting entries, and changing a list's fields, are separate permissions. An assistant never gets more than the person who connected it.
- Approvals
- Agents ask for more access and you approve or deny. A new device signs in only after you approve it and choose its access.
- CI jobs
- GitHub Actions signs in with short-lived access, 15 minutes by default and up to 30 days, with no stored secret.
- Revoking
- Takes effect on the next request. What was already saved stays.
- History
- A history of changes, with who made each one and the before and after
- Underneath
- Standard Postgres
- Plans
- Free for 3 tables and 100 rows. Pro is $10 a month per workspace, with 1 GB of storage.

Which one should you use?
Use Airtable when
people want to build their own apps on the data, with screens, forms and automations, without writing code.
- Interfaces and forms. Build screens for each team and collect entries from outside.
- Automations. Run steps when a record changes.
- Attachments and syncs. Keep files on records, and sync data in through the Sync API.
Use ADoor when
you want the structure of a base with real SQL underneath for $10 a month per workspace, and agents with access you can narrow to one field.
Technical
- A production webhook handler writes every order event with an add-only key. Airtable Free allows 1,000 API calls a month.
- A Cursor agent reads the feature flags list and nothing else. When it needs more, it asks, and you approve or deny.
Personal
- Plant care: each plant, its light, when you last watered and fed it. Ask Claude on Sunday which ones need water.
- Your kids' school schedule, teachers and other parents' numbers. Your partner edits it, the babysitter sees only the schedule.
Team
- An incident log used across engineering, support and success. The incident bot adds entries, and only on-call engineers can close them.
- A history of changes, with who made each one and the before and after.
Business
- A client list for your freelance work, where your assistant adds contacts and only you see the Rate field.
- A partner gets add-only access to one list for referrals. Revoke it when the deal ends, and its entries stay.
