ADoor vs Coda
Coda is a doc editor with tables, formulas and automations, now sold as Superhuman Docs. ADoor, your data account, keeps the records a team works from in one place, and every person, app and assistant like ChatGPT reaches them with its own access.
Where ADoor stands out
Narrower than read and write
When ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor connects to the Docs MCP with OAuth, the scope is set to read and write automatically; read-only needs a personal access token. In ADoor, an assistant can get one list, without a given field, and adding, editing and deleting are separate.
Access to a field, not a whole doc
Coda shares docs with read-only, comment and write access. ADoor sets access per space, list or field, or to the entries that match a value you choose.
Approvals for new access
Agents in ADoor ask before they reach anything new, and a new device signs in only after you approve it. In Coda, personal access tokens are long-lived credentials that members create and manage themselves.
The products
Coda
Coda combines pages, tables, formulas and automations in one doc, with AI built in.
- Assistants
- The Superhuman Docs MCP, hosted, with OAuth or personal access tokens. The older Coda MCP is being retired.
- Access
- Doc sharing with read-only, comment or write
- Change history
- Version history: 7 days on Free, 30 days on Pro, unlimited on Business
- Plans
- Free. Pro is $12 per Doc Maker a month billed yearly, $15 monthly.
ADoor
ADoor is your data account. You keep lists and tables in a workspace you own, personal or team: a reading list, an incident log, a list of customers. Describe what you want to keep track of and it's set up for you, with real Postgres underneath. Every person, app, assistant, device and job gets its own access.
- Assistants
- ChatGPT, Claude, Grok and Cursor connect through MCP with a sign-in.
- Apps and scripts
- An HTTP API with keys, running the same actions assistants use
- Access
- Per space, list or field, or just the entries where a field equals a value you choose. Reading, adding, editing and deleting entries, and changing a list's fields, are separate permissions. An assistant never gets more than the person who connected it.
- Approvals
- Agents ask for more access and you approve or deny. A new device signs in only after you approve it and choose its access.
- CI jobs
- GitHub Actions signs in with short-lived access, 15 minutes by default and up to 30 days, with no stored secret.
- Revoking
- Takes effect on the next request. What was already saved stays.
- History
- A history of changes, with who made each one and the before and after
- Underneath
- Standard Postgres
- Plans
- Free for 3 tables and 100 rows. Pro is $10 a month per workspace, with 1 GB of storage.

Which one should you use?
Use Coda when
you want writing, planning and data in the same doc, with formulas wrapped around it.
- Docs and data together. Pages, tables and formulas live in one doc. ADoor keeps records and has no documents.
- The Superhuman suite. Paid plans include Superhuman's other products, such as Mail and Go.
- Locked pages. Business adds doc and page locking and private folders for teams.
Use ADoor when
the tables in a doc have become the records other tools and assistants change, and you need each one held to its part.
Technical
- Your support platform writes each refund to a Refunds list with an add-only key, and finance reads the list in SQL every morning.
- A Claude agent that triages feedback can add entries to Feedback but can't read Customers. When it needs more, it asks and you approve or deny.
Personal
- Your recipes, with who's allergic to what at family dinners. Your brother adds recipes, and nobody else sees the Allergies field.
- The books you've lent out and to whom. You ask ChatGPT on your phone who still has your copy.
Team
- Product, sales and support share a Feature requests list. Support adds, product edits status, and sales reads.
- Each status change shows who made it and what it was before.
Business
- A company-wide OKR list where each team edits only the entries with its name and leadership reads them all.
- A contractor's assistant reaches the Content calendar list only, and when the contract ends you revoke it on the next request.
