ADoor vs Google Drive
Google Drive stores files and shares them, with 15 GB free on every Google account. ADoor, your data account, keeps records instead of files: deals, suppliers, appointments and anything else you track, which people, apps and assistants like ChatGPT read and change with their own access.
Where ADoor stands out
Records, with fields
Drive shares files and folders. In ADoor, an assistant like ChatGPT creates a list with the fields you describe, and you can sort, count and query it in SQL.
Access to one field, or to matching entries
In ADoor you can share a list without one field, or let someone see only the entries where a field equals their name. Drive's access applies to whole files and folders.
History per change
Drive keeps older versions of uploaded files for 30 days, or until there are 100, unless you choose to keep them. ADoor keeps a history of changes, with who made each one and the before and after.
The products
Google Drive
Google Drive is Google's file storage, with Docs, Sheets and Slides, shared across Gmail and Photos storage.
- Assistants
- A remote Drive MCP server in Developer Preview, set up with an OAuth client in your Google Cloud project
- Change history
- Versions kept 30 days or up to 100, unless kept forever (up to 200)
- Plans
- 15 GB free. Google One Basic is 100 GB for $1.99 a month.
ADoor
ADoor is your data account. You keep lists and tables in a workspace you own, personal or team: a reading list, an incident log, a list of customers. Describe what you want to keep track of and it's set up for you, with real Postgres underneath. Every person, app, assistant, device and job gets its own access.
- Assistants
- ChatGPT, Claude, Grok and Cursor connect through MCP with a sign-in.
- Apps and scripts
- An HTTP API with keys, running the same actions assistants use
- Access
- Per space, list or field, or just the entries where a field equals a value you choose. Reading, adding, editing and deleting entries, and changing a list's fields, are separate permissions. An assistant never gets more than the person who connected it.
- Approvals
- Agents ask for more access and you approve or deny. A new device signs in only after you approve it and choose its access.
- CI jobs
- GitHub Actions signs in with short-lived access, 15 minutes by default and up to 30 days, with no stored secret.
- Revoking
- Takes effect on the next request. What was already saved stays.
- History
- A history of changes, with who made each one and the before and after
- Underneath
- Standard Postgres
- Plans
- Free for 3 tables and 100 rows. Pro is $10 a month per workspace, with 1 GB of storage.

Which one should you use?
Use Google Drive when
you're storing documents, photos and files and sharing them with people.
- Any file. Drive stores files of any kind, with Docs, Sheets and Slides. ADoor has no file storage.
- Real-time documents. Write and edit together in Google Docs.
- Familiar sharing. Most people already have a Google account to share with.
Use ADoor when
the thing you keep is really a set of records, and people and assistants need different parts of it.
Technical
- A nightly job writes each processed invoice to an add-only list, so finance can query a year of invoices in SQL without opening a folder of PDFs.
- A GitHub Actions job records which document version shipped with each release, with 15 minutes of access.
Personal
- Where the family's important documents are kept: the deed, the will, passports and insurance. Your sister sees the list; only you edit it.
- Your thesis sources, with quotes, page numbers and which chapter uses each. You ask Claude which sources you haven't cited yet.
Team
- Sales, legal and finance share a Contracts list with dates and owners, while the PDFs stay in Drive.
- A history of changes shows who changed each renewal date and what it was before.
Business
- Each office edits only the entries with its name in a company-wide Leases list, and only finance sees Rent.
- An outside law firm reads one list for the length of a deal, and you revoke it at closing.
