# Keep gift ideas and birthdays

When a friend mentions something they’d love, tell your assistant right then. ADoor, your data account, keeps the idea with their birthday and what you’ve given before, so you’re never stuck the week before.

## An example

**You:** Lena said she wants to try pottery. Her birthday is March 3. Also I gave Dad the Leatherman last Christmas.

**ADoor:** Added 1 entry to Gift ideas and 1 to Gifts given

**Gift ideas**

| Person | Idea | Heard | Birthday |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Lena | Pottery class | Oct 20 | Mar 3 |

## What you can ask later

- “Whose birthday is in the next month?”
- “What ideas do I have for Lena?”
- “What did I give Dad the last three years?”
- “Gift ideas under 50 for my brother?”

## Who can see what

- **Only you** by default, so nobody sees what you’re planning.
- **Your partner** can add ideas for shared gifts from their own assistant.
- **For a group gift**, give friends access to one person’s ideas only, never the whole list.

## How it compares with a notes app or a calendar

A calendar is better at the birthday alert itself. Keep birthdays there if you want a reminder.

The ideas are the hard part, because you hear them at random moments and forget them. Tell your assistant on the spot, and months later ask what someone mentioned. It also knows what you already gave, so Dad doesn’t get a second Leatherman.

## How to start

1. Open an assistant like ChatGPT, Claude, Grok or Cursor and connect ADoor through MCP.
2. Tell it: “Keep gift ideas and birthdays for me: person, idea, when I heard it, price range, birthday, and a log of gifts I’ve given.”
3. Whenever someone mentions a wish, tell your assistant who said it.

## Questions people ask

### Will it remind me of birthdays?

ADoor doesn’t send notifications. Set up a scheduled task in ChatGPT or Claude that checks every Monday whose birthday is coming up and what ideas you have for them.

### Can someone see ideas for themselves?

Not unless you give them access. Access can be limited to one person’s entries.

### Do I have to pay?

Not on the free plan, which holds 3 tables and 100 rows. Pro is $10 a month per workspace, with 1 GB of storage and no per-GB charges.

### Can I get my data out?

Yes. Anything you can see downloads as CSV or JSON.
