# ADoor vs Microsoft Lists

Microsoft Lists is the list and tracker app in Microsoft 365, built on SharePoint, and it comes with plans such as Business Basic. ADoor, your data account, keeps lists that people, apps and assistants like ChatGPT read and change, each with its own access, with standard SQL underneath.

## Where ADoor stands out

### Works in the assistants people use

Microsoft's MCP access to lists runs through Agent 365 servers for Microsoft 365. ADoor's MCP server works in ChatGPT, Claude, Grok and Cursor with a sign-in.

### Access per agent, capped at you

In ADoor, each assistant, app, device and job has its own access, down to specific fields, or just the entries that match a value you choose, and an assistant never exceeds the person who connected it.

### SQL across lists

Lists are reached through Microsoft Graph. ADoor lets you query across lists in standard Postgres SQL, within your access.

## The products

### Microsoft Lists

Microsoft Lists is one of the task apps in Microsoft 365, alongside To Do and Planner.

Apps and scripts
: Microsoft Graph list and list item APIs

Assistants
: MCP servers in Microsoft Agent 365

Plans
: Included in Microsoft 365 Business Basic at $7 per user a month, paid yearly

### ADoor

ADoor is your data account. You keep lists and tables in a workspace you own, personal or team: a reading list, an incident log, a list of customers. Describe what you want to keep track of and it's set up for you, with real Postgres underneath. Every person, app, assistant, device and job gets its own access.

Assistants
: ChatGPT, Claude, Grok and Cursor connect through MCP with a sign-in.

Apps and scripts
: An HTTP API with keys, running the same actions assistants use

Access
: Per space, list or field, or just the entries where a field equals a value you choose. Reading, adding, editing and deleting entries, and changing a list's fields, are separate permissions. An assistant never gets more than the person who connected it.

Approvals
: Agents ask for more access and you approve or deny. A new device signs in only after you approve it and choose its access.

CI jobs
: GitHub Actions signs in with short-lived access, 15 minutes by default and up to 30 days, with no stored secret.

Revoking
: Takes effect on the next request. What was already saved stays.

History
: A history of changes, with who made each one and the before and after

Underneath
: Standard Postgres

Plans
: Free for 3 tables and 100 rows. Pro is $10 a month per workspace, with 1 GB of storage.

## Which one should you use?

### Use Microsoft Lists when

your company lives in Microsoft 365 and wants lists inside Teams and SharePoint.

- **Already licensed.** Lists comes with Business Basic, alongside Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive.
- **Teams and SharePoint.** SharePoint team sites and Microsoft Teams come in the same plan.
- **Microsoft admin and identity.** Accounts are managed with Microsoft 365 identity and access management.

### Use ADoor when

people use more than one assistant, and each person, script and assistant needs its own limited access.

**Technical**
- A deployment script in GitHub Actions marks each release in a Releases list with 15 minutes of access and no stored secret.
- Your helpdesk system adds tickets to an add-only list, and IT queries them across lists in SQL.

**Personal**
- Passports, visas and their expiry dates for the whole family. You ask ChatGPT whether anyone's passport expires before the summer trip.
- Emergency contacts and bedtime routines for the babysitter, who reads that one list and nothing else.

**Team**
- IT, HR and facilities share an Onboarding list. HR adds new hires, IT edits laptops, facilities edits desks.
- A history of changes shows who changed a start date and what it was before.

**Business**
- Legal keeps a Contracts list where sales reads dates and only legal sees the Terms field.
- A managed service provider gets one space for asset records, and you revoke it when you switch providers.
