# ADoor vs Jira

Jira is Atlassian's project and issue tracker, with a remote MCP server. ADoor, your data account, keeps structured records that aren't tickets, which people, apps and assistants like ChatGPT share with access per field and entry.

## Where ADoor stands out

### Records, not tickets

In Jira, work is tracked as issues in projects. In ADoor, each list has its own fields and you query it in SQL.

### Access per field

In ADoor you can share a list without one field, or let someone see only the entries where a field equals their name.

### Short-lived CI access

A GitHub Actions job gets ADoor access for 15 minutes by default, with no stored secret.

## The products

### Jira

Jira is Atlassian's project and issue tracking, with workflows and Atlassian's admin tools.

Assistants
: The Atlassian remote MCP server at mcp.atlassian.com/v2/mcp, with OAuth 2.1 or an API token

Plans
: Free for up to 10 users. Standard is $8.48 per user a month.

### ADoor

ADoor is your data account. You keep lists and tables in a workspace you own, personal or team: a reading list, an incident log, a list of customers. Describe what you want to keep track of and it's set up for you, with real Postgres underneath. Every person, app, assistant, device and job gets its own access.

Assistants
: ChatGPT, Claude, Grok and Cursor connect through MCP with a sign-in.

Apps and scripts
: An HTTP API with keys, running the same actions assistants use

Access
: Per space, list or field, or just the entries where a field equals a value you choose. Reading, adding, editing and deleting entries, and changing a list's fields, are separate permissions. An assistant never gets more than the person who connected it.

Approvals
: Agents ask for more access and you approve or deny. A new device signs in only after you approve it and choose its access.

CI jobs
: GitHub Actions signs in with short-lived access, 15 minutes by default and up to 30 days, with no stored secret.

Revoking
: Takes effect on the next request. What was already saved stays.

History
: A history of changes, with who made each one and the before and after

Underneath
: Standard Postgres

Plans
: Free for 3 tables and 100 rows. Pro is $10 a month per workspace, with 1 GB of storage.

## Which one should you use?

### Use Jira when

your team runs projects with tickets, workflows and Atlassian tools.

- **Workflows.** Automated processes and workflows.
- **The Atlassian suite.** The Atlassian MCP covers Jira, Confluence and Bitbucket.
- **Free for 10.** Up to 10 users at no cost.

### Use ADoor when

you're keeping records in tickets, and people and assistants need narrow access to them.

**Technical**
- A GitHub Actions job writes each test run to an add-only list with 15 minutes of access, and QA queries it in SQL.
- A Claude agent reads an Assets list and asks before editing.
- An incident bot adds each outage to an add-only list with start, end and cause, and the team counts them per month in SQL.

**Personal**
- Repairs your landlord owes you, with dates reported and replies. You ask ChatGPT what's still open.
- Your stamp collection by country and year, which a fellow collector reads.

**Team**
- IT keeps laptops in a list: IT edits, managers read their team's entries.
- A history of changes shows who reassigned each laptop.
- Customer success adds escalations, engineering edits only Fix version, and both see the same list in their own assistant.

**Business**
- Each supplier adds its own deliveries to one list, and only procurement sees Price.
- An auditor reads one list for a month, then you revoke it.
- A hardware company keeps serial numbers and warranty status in one list that the support assistant reads but never edits.
