# ADoor vs Baserow

Baserow is an open-source no-code database and app builder that runs in the cloud or on your own servers. ADoor, your data account, keeps the records a company or a person works from, set up from a chat, where every person, app, assistant, device and job has its own access.

## Where ADoor stands out

### Access per assistant, capped at you

Baserow's MCP server uses an endpoint key you generate, sent as a Bearer token, and its docs say to treat that key and URL as a secret. In ADoor, each assistant signs in with OAuth, gets its own access, and never more than the person who connected it.

### Approvals for agents and devices

In ADoor, agents ask for more access and you approve or deny, and a new device signs in only after you approve it. Baserow's MCP setup is a key per endpoint.

### Field access on every plan

Baserow has field-level, view-level and role-based permissions on its Advanced plan. In ADoor, access per field, and to the entries that match a value you choose, is how every space works.

## The products

### Baserow

Baserow is a no-code database with views, forms, automations and an app builder, open source and self-hostable.

Assistants
: A built-in MCP server, in the cloud or self-hosted

Access
: Workspace roles, plus database, table, field and view permissions on Advanced

Change history
: Row change history: 14 days on Free, 90 on Premium, 180 on Advanced. Audit logs on Advanced.

Plans
: Free with 3,000 rows and 2 GB per workspace. Premium $10 per user a month billed yearly.

### ADoor

ADoor is your data account. You keep lists and tables in a workspace you own, personal or team: a reading list, an incident log, a list of customers. Describe what you want to keep track of and it's set up for you, with real Postgres underneath. Every person, app, assistant, device and job gets its own access.

Assistants
: ChatGPT, Claude, Grok and Cursor connect through MCP with a sign-in.

Apps and scripts
: An HTTP API with keys, running the same actions assistants use

Access
: Per space, list or field, or just the entries where a field equals a value you choose. Reading, adding, editing and deleting entries, and changing a list's fields, are separate permissions. An assistant never gets more than the person who connected it.

Approvals
: Agents ask for more access and you approve or deny. A new device signs in only after you approve it and choose its access.

CI jobs
: GitHub Actions signs in with short-lived access, 15 minutes by default and up to 30 days, with no stored secret.

Revoking
: Takes effect on the next request. What was already saved stays.

History
: A history of changes, with who made each one and the before and after

Underneath
: Standard Postgres

Plans
: Free for 3 tables and 100 rows. Pro is $10 a month per workspace, with 1 GB of storage.

## Which one should you use?

### Use Baserow when

you want an Airtable-style database you can host yourself, with a UI your team builds views and apps in.

- **Self-hosting.** Baserow is open source and runs on your own servers. ADoor is hosted only.
- **Field and view permissions you set in a UI.** Advanced has role-based, field-level and view-level permissions, plus audit logs.
- **Apps on top of the data.** The application builder turns a database into an internal app.

### Use ADoor when

you want the field-level control too, but also need it to hold for each assistant, device and job, set up from a chat.

**Technical**
- A warehouse scanner app adds each pallet to a Stock list with an add-only key, and planners query it in SQL.
- A GitHub Actions job updates the Environments list during each deploy with 15 minutes of access, and no Baserow-style token sits in the repository.

**Personal**
- Your dog's vet visits, vaccinations and next booster dates. The dog sitter reads the list and can't change it.
- A home inventory for insurance: each item, its value and where the receipt is. Only you and your partner see the Value field.

**Team**
- Support, engineering and success share a Bug reports list. Support adds, engineers edit, and nobody but leads can delete.
- A new laptop joins only after you approve it and choose which lists it can reach.

**Business**
- A regional sales team's assistant reads its own region's accounts and nothing else, because it can't exceed the person who connected it.
- A logistics partner adds shipments to one list. You revoke the partner when the contract ends, and the shipments stay.

## Questions people ask

### Baserow has field permissions. What does ADoor add?

Per-agent access capped at the connecting person, approvals for agents and devices, and short-lived sign-in for CI. You set it up from a chat.

### Can I self-host ADoor?

No. ADoor is hosted. If self-hosting is a requirement, Baserow is the better fit.

### Which assistants work with ADoor?

ChatGPT, Claude, Grok and Cursor connect through MCP with a sign-in. You approve each one and choose what it can reach.
